This is a courtesy translation. The Spanish version is the text that governs.
Reviews exist so a reader can leave a reasoned record of what they thought of a book, and so the next person can decide with that evidence in hand.
Who can review
Any reader of the book. No account or prior registration is required.
The authors of the book, their relatives, and the editorial team may not review it. Anyone with a conflict of interest with the book or its authorship, whether professional, academic, commercial, or family-related, must disclose it in the text. Disclosing it does not prevent publication; concealing it is grounds for rejection.
Identity
We ask for a public name: the one you want your review signed with.
The press does not verify identities and does not claim to. We recommend a full name for academic credibility, without requiring it. Institutional affiliation is optional.
What we do verify is the email address: your review does not enter the moderation queue until you confirm your address by clicking a link. This keeps someone from signing with another person's email.
Your email is not published
We publish your public name, your affiliation if you gave one, the rating, the title, the text, and the date. Your email is never published. It is used to confirm submission, to notify you when the review is published, and to handle any request to withdraw it.
We do not store your IP address. We keep only a cryptographic fingerprint, for ninety days.
Prior moderation
No review is published automatically. An editor reviews every one, within five business days of your confirming your email.
A review is not rejected for being negative. A reasoned, respectful critique is published, even if uncomfortable. Publishing only praise would destroy the trust that reviews exist to build.
The only grounds for rejection are:
- Insults or personal attacks.
- Discrimination of any kind.
- Content unrelated to the book.
- Spam or promotion.
- Plagiarism.
- Personal data about third parties.
- Serious accusations without support.
- An undisclosed conflict of interest.
- Links or potentially malicious content.
About links: we do not reject a review for including one. In an academic press, citing a DOI or a relevant article is exactly what we expect. We deactivate the hyperlink, the address stays as plain text, and the review goes to manual review. It is only rejected if the link is promotional or malicious.
We do not rewrite your text. It is published as written, or not published at all. Correcting a person's words and publishing them under their name would put words in their mouth that they did not say. The only thing we correct is an obvious typo, and that correction is noted.
The press may respond publicly under a review. That response is identified as coming from the press and does not modify your text.
Average and stars
The average is shown starting from three published reviews. With one or two, an average tells you nothing: it amplifies noise. In the catalog, stars appear starting from five reviews per book. The average is calculated only from published reviews.
Withdrawing your review
You may request withdrawal by writing to [email protected] from the same address you signed it with. We withdraw it and it stops showing; we keep only the minimum audit record.

Corrected or withdrawn books
Reviews are kept associated with the edition reviewed and shown with its edition notice. If a book leaves the catalog, its reviews stop showing but are not deleted.
If a controversy arises about a book, we do not suspend its reviews: we publish an editorial note explaining the situation. Hiding the conversation when it gets difficult is the opposite of what reviews are for.
